    Origin

    The first major hits came in 1998 with Rainbow Six, Hidden & Dangerous and Delta Force, which defined the genre; Airborne Ranger (1987) already had tactical features.

  • Extraction shooterYou go into a map full of enemies and other players with your gear, grab loot and have to reach an extraction point before time runs out. Get out and you keep what you carry; die and you lose it all, so every match is about deciding how much to risk.
